Divsign have been working with VHS to Digital specialists tape2digital.co.uk on their Wix site SEO.
Search engine optimisation on Wix websites, as I tell all my SEO clients, should be viewed as an ongoing process rather than a quick fix. With that in mind I started work on business owner Vejay's website with a view to starting from the bottom and working up. This included a design and structure review for his site https://www.tape2digital.co.uk.
The First Stage
Vejay's page design was pretty good as a start - vivid colours of orange and blue, with clear calls to action on the homepage. What the site was missing was additional information about each of the services he offers:
Having added the necessary pages, I set about adding internal links across the site, from the homepage, between the pages, in the Menu and page Footer. These only add a little, but as they say at the big blue supermarket: "Every Little Helps".
The Second Step
Having added the additional pages and interlinked them across the site, I developed the page structures and headings to match search terms related to each page. This is a necessary, if tedious, process. I also added a selection of keywords to the meta files in the back end of Wix - a pretty well hidden, but really useful tool most people don't know about! What this meant was that after a few weeks the site was visible under a lot of the popular search phrases I had used, meaning much higher visibility for the site, followed by an increase in click-through-rate (CTR) and site visits. Great success!
The Third Step
Going back to the tape2digital site after a few weeks, work continued with some image optimisation - changing image file names, adjusting ALT tabs and reducing unnecessarily large file sizes to improve the Site Load Speed (I forgot to see what it was before I worked on it, but it's 97 now). This can be done via PageSpeed Insights, but I prefer to use the built-in version on Wix.com. The site pages were re-submitted manually to Google, so the results of this should appear pretty quickly. Whenever I work on Site SEO, I always resubmit the site pages directly into Google Search Console rather than wait for Google to crawl the site.
The Fourth Step
With the on-site work up to scratch, I started work on building some backlinks to Tape2Digital.co.uk, starting with my standard list of directory sites (to build trust) and latterly a few more specialist sites related to VHS to Digital Transfer Services in the UK. I researched a few of Tape2Digital's competitors to see where they were getting links from - and nicked them! This is probably the easiest way to start building up backlinks to any Wix website.
The Final* Step
Finally, I wrote a nice blog post about Vejay Forrester and the tape2digital transfer service in Epsom, Surrey, then posted it across my social media; Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, LinkedIn and Google. Et voila!
*You should know by now, there is no final step in SEO!
