Being based in Mid-Devon on the edge of the Blackdown Hills can be a blessing and a curse. The setting is stunning and my home office overlooks our garden (which is, admittedly, a work-in-progress!) with Blackborough Woods on the horizon. Generally speaking, there is no-one else about - which can be good and bad - and annoyingly for a website designer - the broadband is awfully slow.
My favourite new clients are always those who have been personally recommended by other happy clients; whether they are based in Devon, Somerset, Cornwall or further afield. I wanted to post today about how I help local businesses to improve their websites, SEO, as well as their online presentation.
There are always opportunities to improve your Wix website design, whether you are an amateur or a professional. Here are a few local websites I have improved recently:
Aga Posh Organic Skincare
Agata from Aga Posh (https://www.agaposh.com/) was recommended to me by the lovely Naomi from Mole End Plants, who I have been working with also since I first started Divsign in 2020.
Agata started her business in lockdown, initially selling her luxury skincare products over Facebook, but soon found that there was enough of a market to expand to a full ecommerce website. So with just a logo, some admittedly great product photography, and the bare bones of what Aga Posh was all about, Divsign created a simple Wix website with web shop.
Culm Otter Exe Master Thatchers
Thomas Kimber, Master Thatcher for Culm, Otter, Exe Master Thatchers in Devon, came to Divsign not really sure of what he wanted design-wise, so I let his work do the talking!
A main page featuring a classic thatched Devon roof, with simple menu setup and straw-coloured accents for the buttons and footer. Other pages include About Culm Otter Exe, the Thatched Roof Services they provide, and examples of the master thatcher's previous work in a snazzy gallery.
I've also undertaken a bit of additional SEO work for Culm Otter Exe, so have a look at the site www.culmotterexe.com and see if you can spot it!
Knot Out Sports Massage Therapy Exeter
Kat Davies is Sports Massage Therapist near Exeter, offering professional massage services for athletes as well as muscle massage for everyday aches and pains (for the less athletic, like me!).
Kat needed a little help with her Wix website Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) for Knot Out Sports Massage, which is based only a few miles from me in Poltimore, on the Cullompton side of Exeter. She had successfully followed my SEO for Wix guide, but needed some assistance with the next step in her SEO.
As always with SEO, Knot Out is an ongoing project, so follow Divsign and Knot Out on our social media channels to keep up to date with our combined progress.
Snappy Sups Paddleboard Lessons & Hire Taunton
Snappy Sups is Taunton's first Stand Up Paddleboard Centre, offering SUP Lessons for beginners in Somerset & Devon, and Paddleboard Hire across the South West.
Owner Jason Jenkins was recommended to Divsign by Alex Bennett of Prosper Events (check them out if you enjoy trail running in Taunton!), with a rough outline design and branding in place I took the Wix site and gave it a good once-over, making the distinction between Paddleboard Hire (which is available across the whole South West) and Paddleboarding Lessons in Taunton (currently the lessons are just in Taunton, but there are more locations to come).
